Hello IJP Families-
I hope you are all doing well on this beautiful Friday. We have successfully made it to the end of the first week of school. It has been so nice to meet all of your amazing students this week, and I know that we are in for a great year here at IJP. Every Friday this school year, you will receive a newsletter like this from me with important information, updates, dates, etc. Be on the look out for this!
Important Information:
- We have made a minor change to the procedures surrounding late students. This year, the late door will close at 8:10. After 8:10, any student arriving will need to report to door A and check in at the main office with Mrs. Mayer
- Also a friendly reminder that during pickup and dropoff, cars are not permitted to enter the lot off of Douglas Ave. This is an exit only. Cars should enter the parking lot via Leavitt Ave. and exit on Douglas.
- Any parents or family members that are wishing to volunteer at school this year must complete VIRTUS training and have fingerprinting and a background check completed. Please refer to the directions about VIRTUS training sent out during the summer.
-Students that are utilizing extended day need to sign up through Procare. All students have been entered into Procare and should have received an email invite from Procare.
-All school volunteers must meet the compliance requirements as set forth by the Archdiocese of Chicago. Instructions are attached to this email. No exceptions can be made. If you have already created a Virtus account, please be sure to log into it as a few documents must be upated annually on July 1st.
- If you have questions surrounding hot lunch sign up, you can direct all questions to hotlunch@ijpschool.org. Some parents have also been asked for a school code when signing up. If prompted for a code, it is IJP-IJP.
Upcoming Events:
- Tomorrow will be the Saint Veronica Parish/IJP School block party, kicking off with 4:00 mass and the event starting right after. We encourage all families to attend this night of fun to help support our school!
- Reminder that Open House/Back to school night will take place in the school gym on Thursday, 8/28 from 6:00-7:30. We will send more info about the night next week. We do encourage kids not to attend this event, as it is really an opportunity for parents and guardians to learn more about IJP and the policies and procedures of our school and classrooms.
- Next week will also start iReady diagnostic testing for students Kindergarten- grade 8. This will give our teachers a baseline result of student performance in order to help inform instruction for the upcoming school year. Please reach out directly to me with any concerns around iReady testing.
Eyes Up Goal:
This year our theme as a school is "Eyes Up." Each week, we will set a goal to work on as a whole school. Next week, our eyes up goal is:
Eyes up on making a new friend.
Faculty Shout Outs:
Each week, I will also take an opportunity to shout out a couple of our amazing staff members for something they are doing this week. Today, I want to shout out:
-Mrs. Nyman, our wonderful new pre-k extended day helper. Mrs. Nyman has already become a part of the IJP community, and has taken every chance she can to be fully involved in our community. Keep up the good work!
-Ms. Dyra, our awesome new kindergarten teacher. Ms. Dyra's calm demeanor and welcoming smile has been such an asset to some of our youngest learners, and we are very lucky to have her here at IJP.
Thanks again for your continued support, and please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Best-
Mr. Francis
