Dear IJP Families,
I am third…
Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22: 37-39
In a world where there is so much turmoil, hate, disaster, and hurting, let us take time out of our hectic lives and pray for each other and for those of whom we do not know. Take time to pause before passing judgement and jumping to conclusions for we do not know the burden others carry. Take time to enjoy the precious days with our children for they grow up so fast. We work with our students daily, even hourly, to instill the qualities Jesus asks us to embody; that of kindness and compassion and love. God bless all the families of IJP and all those who need extra prayers this week and beyond.
Please consider joining us for All-School Mass every Wednesday at 9:00 am. We would love to have you!
The talented IJP Kingsmen Choir will take the stage at Flossmoor Fest on Saturday, September 8 at 12:00 noon in beautiful downtown Flossmoor. The choir will be performing their favorite songs of faith, as well as popular songs from their recent repertoire. Please come out and enjoy the show!
8th grade IJP Girls Basketball takes on St. George tomorrow at 9:30 am. The game is AT St. George! This is a venue change that is different from the schedule.
The first round of baseline STAR testing began this week. This online Math and Reading standardized test gives educators one more tool in helping to identify students who may be struggling or may need an extra push in the classroom. As a component of Renaissance Learning, the company who created Accelerated Reading (AR), these relatively short tests mirror objectives that are also present on the Aspire Test, thus making the students more comfortable come Spring testing time. As we have in the past, IJP will do STAR testing once a trimester to monitor academic growth.
IJP will be continuing with the Rainbows for All Children program to help children who have experienced the loss of a loved one due to death, divorce, deployment or another life-altering event. Rainbows’ trained facilitators, use age-appropriate curriculum and establish peer support groups to help with the grieving and healing process. More information on the program will be coming home with all students in the next week.
