Good afternoon!  I hope this finds you well rested and ready to get this school started!  Know that we have been excitedly anticipating the students’ return and have everything ready to roll.  We’d like to welcome Maura O’Donnell, our new art and junior high health teacher, and Debbie Butler, our new PreK3 teacher!  I wanted to pass along a few tips and announcements as we start our year.

  • School starts Monday, August 19 at 8:25 am and dismisses at 3:00 pm (except for preschoolers and kindergarteners).

  • Please refer to last year’s Student Handbook for parking lot procedures.  For the safety of all, it’s important that everyone follow the procedures as they are written.  You can find the Handbook online at our website, ijpschool.org, under Current Students, Important Information.

  • Students should be in full uniform, including shoes that follow our new shoe policy (all black, all white, or black and white shoes).  Please check our hair policy to be sure that your child is compliant. Please note that students will not be allowed to wear smartwatches in school.

  • Class lists are posted on the doors at entrance A of the school for your reference.

  • Your child’s teacher will be outside on Monday to greet you all before school starts.  They will be carrying signs so you can find the right teacher.

  • Students will be dismissed from Door J beginning at 2:55 pm (first floor).  Please be sure that you keep everyone safe by using sidewalks and the ‘safe zone’ to make your way to your vehicles.  Students who are going to Extended Day should go directly to the appropriate room (cafeteria for 1-8th grade students, PLC for kindergarten and preschool students) upon dismissal.  No student should leave campus if they are in our care.

  • New this year…parents should report their absent child via email to attendance@ijpschool.org.

  • Picture day is Friday, August 23.  Forms will go home the first day or two of school.

  • Please join us at our Welcome Back to School Mass here at IJP at 9 am on Sunday, August 25th.

  • Parent Information Nights are Tuesday, August 27 for K-5th grade parents and Thursday, August 29 for 6-8 graders.  The night begins at 6:30 pm in the gym. Please plan to attend.

  • Perhaps you’ll want to run in the Flossmoor Hidden Gem Half-marathon which is Saturday, September 7.  You can use discount code IJP for a discount! Find registration forms at https://www.hiddengemhalf.com/.

Coming soon…E-learning days and Virtus Training here at IJP on Sept 4.

Looking forward to a great year!

Sincerely,

Charlotte Kelly
