What does Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10) mean?

Teacher Appreciation Week is a time for those of you with children in school to thank a teacher. Personal preference among teachers is a wide and varied as in any other profession. Here is a list of do’s that can help guide you to ways of showing your appreciation that will be, well, appreciated.

  • Think about a gift of classroom supplies.  The average teacher in the US spends $350 of their own money on school supplies for their students to use such as, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, cotton balls, tissue, and brown paper bags. By May, many classrooms are running low on consumable supplies and a couple packages of new pencils would be put to good use.  Keep this in mind when you are stocking up on school supplies in August. Just a thought.
  • Give a gift card to a place that has something for everyone.  It is easy to use a gift card at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Amazon, the gas station, or the local pizza place.
  • Get together with other parents to give an all school gift or a bowl of candy and put in the lounge that says, “Thanks for being so sweet.”

All School Mother’s Day
Bottle Drive

Next week in honor of Mother’s Day, IJP parish and school will be participating in our annual Mother’s Day baby bottle drive for Aid for Women to provide women in difficult or unexpected pregnancies with tangible and emotional support so they can provide a better life for themselves and their families.

Students will be bringing home an empty baby bottle, to hopefully fill with spare change. We ask that students return their filled bottles to school the following week, May 13th-17th.

Thank you for helping mothers in need!

Second Grade

On Sunday, April 28, 2019, our Second Graders received their First Holy Communion. This Wednesday, these students dressed in their Communion finery and celebrated with the IJP student body at Mass. May God bless each one of them!
