Dear IJP Families,

Wow! It has been an eventful week at IJP and we are not done yet! The Prairie State College of Nursing students came today to talk to our Pre-School, Kindergarten and 1st grade about poison prevention and safety. The Flossmoor Fire Department came on Monday to talk to 1st through 8th grade about Fire Prevention.  We are so thankful for the wonderful community relationships we enjoy and the important information these organizations present to our children.

Just a reminder, as the weather changes, please remember to have your child wear a jacket to school as we will continue to go out for recess all days that we can until the weather becomes too cold. Hats and gloves on cold days are a good idea as well. Encourage your child, especially the older ones, to put on their jackets before going to recess or leaving for the day.

Join us on Thursday, November 1st for All Saints Day Mass at 10 am. There is no All-School Mass on Wednesday, October 31st due to the Holy Day on Thursday.

The Trunk or Treat Community Event will take place tomorrow, Saturday, October 27th from 6-8 pm in the faculty parking lot. Halloween Fun for all ages, including games, pumpkin painting, food and a haunted tunnel.  Please join us for this family event and reserve your space now!  More questions, call Leslie Newhuis at 708-799-5200, ext. 250.

Wednesday, October 31st is the Halloween pizza lunch. The cafeteria kitchen is closed for lunch on Wednesday.  If you chose not to participate in the pizza lunch, please remember to pack a lunch from home for your child.

All students may have a Jeans Day on Wednesday, 10/31 and wear a black/orange or Halloween-themed t-shirt (appropriate for school) in lieu of their uniform. The school gym shoe policy still applies.  On Wednesday afternoon-Halloween, please remind your child about candy safety and not to eat any treat until you have a chance to look over their loot! Be Safe!

8th Grade Parents: There will be an 8th grade Parent Meeting on Thursday, November 8th to talk about the Spring 8th Grade Activities, Graduation, and to sign up for volunteer committees for the events.  Please plan on meeting in the Cafeteria at 6:30 pm.  Students should not attend! A draft letter of important dates and times of all events will be handed out.  A finalized letter of events will go out in January.

Parent-Teacher Conference time is quickly approaching.  Conferences are Monday, November 19th from 2-8 pm and Tuesday, November 20th from 9 am-noon and 1-4 pm. Forms went home with students today to request a conference time.  All forms are processed on a first come, first serve basis and must be turned in by Friday, November 9th.  Your conference time will be sent home with your child the week of November 12th.

Report Cards for the first trimester will be sent home with the students at the end of the day on Friday, November 16th.  Report cards will not be released to families with any delinquent tuition balances or before/after care fees and are held in the School Office.  If you are unsure of monies owed, please contact Mrs. Dull in the office.

ALERT! There will be No School on Monday, November 19th. This is a change in the published school calendar.  Students will be off that day in order for teachers to work on new Blended Tech Learning skills and to prepare for Parent-Teacher Conferences which begin at 2 pm. Please note the change in your home calendars!

I hope to see you at Trunk or Treat! Have a wonderful weekend!
