Dear IJP Families,

I continue to be very impressed with the way the students have embraced the Kingsmen Code program and the Meaningful Monday Assembly. Starting the day out as a whole school, having student led prayer, and community announcements really kicks the week off in a joyful Christ-filled way.

I am so thankful and happy to report that we have collected over $2000 in cash and gift cards for our new sister school in Houston, Queen of Peace Catholic School. The thoughtfulness and generosity of our families is shining through in an amazing way!  The package will be on its way this evening. Again, thank you to all who were able to donate and help with the recovery in the aftermath of the hurricane.

We will be shifting our Works of Mercy closer to home, bringing the subject of food insecurity into the curriculum as we partner with the whole Archdiocese and Soldier Field to restock the eight Chicagoland Catholic Charities Food Pantries before November.

Parents Night Out is almost here!  You are cordially invited to join us on Friday, September 22nd for FREE pizza, wine and beer, as we gather to pick the ONWARD IJP! Raffle Winners! Festivities start at 7 pm. Drawing is at 9 pm. If you have not already done so, please RSVP using this LINK.

The October Lunch Menu has been posted on the school website under the “Hot Lunch Program” tab. Please have your student’s menu selections in by Friday, September 29th at the latest.  We want to start out October lunches as smoothly as possible. You may email menus directly to Country House at hotlunch@ijpschool.org. You may also bring the menus to the School Office, with a check made out to Country House if you do not have your credit card on file with the company.

Note from the Nurse: Please be sure your child has eaten breakfast before coming to school.  Every morning, students visit the nurse complaining of a “stomachache".  When asked if they had breakfast, the answer is almost always "no".  Breakfast is an important meal and is often neglected.  It gets the digestion process going and also provides energy that is needed to think and perform well in school.  So please reinforce to your child the importance of eating breakfast every day.

Please remember to register for PowerSchool if you have not already done so. Contact Mrs. Debbie Bohne, Technology Director, for the code to register.  My goal is for all parents to be connected to PowerSchool this year before Mid-Term time on September 29th!

The Soup-er Stadium Challenge is coming.  Stay tuned next week!

Have a wonderful weekend and good luck to all our student athletes this weekend!

Peace,

Natalie Formica
