Religion: This week we are finishing an essay about respect life.  The students will peer edit and then write their final copy.  There will be no test on Friday.

Fourth Grade Reading: The students are learning the difference between summarizing and paraphrasing.  We also began a paired passage about soil which supports our STEAM topic for this week.  When we finish those stories we will begin reading about Jane Addams and her contributions to the poor of Chicago.  Our focus skill will be analyzing information in a firsthand and secondhand account of the same topic.

Fifth Grade Reading:  Last week we read a paired passage about soil which supports our STEAM topic for this week.  When we finish those stories we will begin reading three articles related to the Boston Tea Party.  Our focus skill will be comparing and contrasting two or more authors' points of view of the same event.

Science 208:  Our focus for the next few weeks will be earth science.  We will learn about the layers of earth, oceans, soil, weather and climate and natural disasters.  This week, we are reading Earth-Space Science Week 3.  The quiz will be on Thursday, October 19th.

STEAM:  Our focus for the next few weeks will be earth science.  We will learn about the layers of earth, oceans, soil, weather, and climate and natural disasters.  The class has broken into new committees to address the courtyard.  We are working on acquiring furniture, a water feature, creating see-through murals around the courtyard doors and an artist's rendering of what it will look like , naming the courtyard, and reaching out to the community for help.  After that we will revisit the courtyard in the spring and hopefully pull it all together.
